Amidst the hills and the clouds…….

As I have already disclosed in my previous post, 9th of this month was my birthday. Since it was on a weekday, I and my friends decided to do some pre-bday celebration in the weekend. In the scorching heat and humidity, there was not much scope for any outdoor activity. And then one of my friends suggested a weekend getaway to Shillong (which is only about 3 hours away from Guwahati). And soon our plans started rolling. (more…)

A trip to the wilds (Part 2)

IMG_0228Continued from Day 1…..

For Day 2, Mr. Martin, our guide cum naturalist of the resort, had advised us to wake up early in the morning at around 5 am for the jeep safari. However, having celebrated the birthdays of two of our friends the previous evening over great food (including some divine chocolate cake), drinks & chatting, we were having a hard time dragging ourselves from our beds. And when we did manage to do so, we saw that it was dark & foggy outside – one more reason to feel lazy! Here are some pictures of that early morning – (more…)

A trip to the wilds (Part 1)

1.1This is a post long due; it has been lying in my drafts folder since February. It is about my 3rd weekend getaway that I am documenting in my blog. The 1st one is  here & the 2nd one here. 😛 And this time the location was Manas National Park (MNP). We had gone there in the early part of February, when it was still winter. (more…)

Serenity at Naamphakey

This is a post I should have posted long ago. Anyways, better late than never! 🙂

During the Christmas week, I was home for a weeklong break from work. This time I had planned to stay at home & enjoy a lazy holiday. Eating, sleeping & basking in the winter sun were the only things I had in my mind. But as I have already written earlier (post here), my Deuta is a travel enthusiast. As soon as he came to know that my leaves have been approved, he started drawing up a list of places we could visit. Since I was in no mood to travel a lot, he brought down the list with a few places nearby my hometown. We finally zeroed down to two – Majuli (largest river island in the world) & Namphakey village in Naharkatia. But then in the end, we could manage only one trip…….lazy me! 😛 (more…)

It doesn’t take much to inspire me to travel, or at least plan to travel, to a particular place – a conversation over a cup of tea/coffee, a photograph, a book, a movie, travel magazines as well as TV channels, in-flight magazines, a friend, an acquaintance – anything can make me plan to pack my bags & hit the road. 🙂 As a result, my list of must-be-visited places is getting longer, just like my to-be-read book-list. Sigh!

Go Goa!!

And yes! I finally lived my long cherished dream of visiting Goa (after juggling my mounting work and my leaves and assimilating a group of like-minded people). Thanks to the bunch of people who made it possible…finally! 🙂 A big shoutout to all you five – Ankita, Angira, Zaveer, Sujoy & Ankur!!! To say we had the fun of our lives would be an understatement.  🙂 Though all of us could manage time of only 5 days (including the to-and-fro journey) for this wonderful place, I was not at all disappointed. I loved and enjoyed every bit of the trip and of course look forward for my return visit soon. (!!!) (more…)

In the wilds of Nameri

Recently, I stumbled across a blog where the author had rightly said that a perfect day is about noticing a perfect moment rather than creating one. Perfect moments can be momentous or ordinary or somewhere in between.

The last weekend I and my friends made an impromptu plan to go for a weekend stay at Nameri Eco Camp – the Angling, Birding & Wildlife Den at Nameri National Park. The time being off-season, we were informed by the camp authorities, during booking for accommodation, that rafting, visit to the Park & all other activities have been withdrawn. However, there was no stopping our undaunting spirits & excitement and we decided to go ahead with our plan and packed our bags for a night stay in the wilds. 🙂

Weekend getaway

Trips with friends are always fun.  It is the joy of being around with like minded people who will not judge for being yourself and take your impromptu madness in good stride. With friends you don’t have to be on your guard. That is the beauty of friendship.

Anyhow, the last weekend, i.e. on 9th February, I and a few of my colleagues/friends, went off for a daylong weekend getaway to Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary in Morigaon, to celebrate the birthdays of two of my friends. It is (more…)
