One of the highlights of 2014 for me will be that I have bought my own car & started driving it all by myself now. Day before yesterday was my first time alone and I drove from home to office to back home……..without hitting anybody/anything. 🙂
I know, this might seem a minor thing to many, but for me it is a huge deal! Over the last few years, I had been making plans to buy a car but somehow the decision of whether I should learn driving first and buy the car next or vice-versa was proving to be a difficult one. And time flew by without me doing any of the two. 😛
Anyways, I am yet to master the skills of a good driver (especially parking in smaller/crowded areas) but I am glad that Ihave started the process. By the way, this is a pictorial description of what I went through on my 1st day driving alone –
1. In the morning, I talked to myself in the mirror that everything would be alright…..
2. As I sat on the seat and started the ignition, I was like –
Me – “yes, I can do this….what would possibly go wrong?”
3. Once the car started moving, I was like –
4. When I finally reached office and parked the vehicle & came out with great relief, I was like – 5. And then when I finally parked the car at the parking lot of my apartment, I went up to my room and I was like –
Do anyone remember their 1st driving lesson or their 1st day on the wheels alone? Do share your experiences. 🙂
Awesome!! 🙂 I’m yet to learn driving.. I don’t know what’s stopping me 🙂
Go ahead and give it a try……maybe it can be one of your goals for 2015, what say? 🙂
YAY! I’m so happy for you! I didn’t get my license and car until I was 22! I could legally drink before I could drive. LOL. But, my best friend MADE me drive her big-ass truck in our college town with some small streets. I was terrified. Once she made me drive by myself….at night! I almost had a heart attack. The first time I drove after getting my license didn’t change that either! 🙂 Now I am a very accomplished and season driver and I pay close attention to what’s going on around me on the road – which has saved me quite a few times from some idiot drivers. 🙂 I hope you enjoy your new car and your new driving experiences!
thanks for sharing your experience Charlie! 🙂
And yes, being careful on the road saves your day, because the roads are full of idiots
hahaha…i loved your pictorial description. A few days back i gt my learners’. Hopefully I shall be able to share my driving alone experience sometime soon (that is if my husband allows the car to be alone with me!!!) Great going girl! m proud of you 🙂
thanks Nats! 🙂
I am sure once you upgrade to your DL, nobody can stop you from driving……hahahahaha 😛
Awesome yaa and congrats..u got the best gift this year:) I don’t know how to drive coz I have a phobia on wheels.
thanks Vishal! 🙂
you have a phobia for that?
First of all congratulations on your new car. Though I have no experience of driving a four-wheeler but I can totally relate to you as I am learning to drive a two-wheeler these days 🙂
Thanks Nibha! 🙂
And yes, be it a 2-wheeler or a 4-wheeler, I guess the experience will be the same 🙂
I guess so!! It’ a mixture of feelings! 😀
yeah! 🙂
I enjoyed reading this humorous account of your first day on the road alone. Practice makes perfect. After awhile you will be an expert behind the wheel.
hahaha….I am glad you liked my post 🙂
And yes, practice is what I am doing these days 🙂
That was a hilarious pictorial representation. Congrats for the Mission Accomplished! 😀
I was just the opposite when I started driving. All the fears and doubts were before. Once I was in the driver’s seat with the steering wheel in my hands and driving, I was confident, happy and in control. 🙂
thanks Shail! 🙂
And yes, now I, too, am confident and happy & feel I am in control 🙂
Congratulations!!! I laughed through the pictures!!! 😀
Here’s to more road trips in the future 😉
I am glad I made you laugh 😛
Cheers to more trips! 🙂
