Popping the wrap!

Do you have the same thoughts as me when you see this?

I mean lets pop the innumerable bubbles and then smiling happily & with satisfaction at the same time. If yes, then welcome to the this-makes-me-feel-like-a-kid party! 🙂

In real life, bubble wrap is a great packing material, especially for fragile items. But then who remembers anything useful about it rather than popping it…….because I cannot. The whole activity is nothing fancy, but only a piece of the wrap, a thumb, some fingers and lots of popping! And when it seems to be over, I twist the wrap as if I am squeezing a wet towel and then the remaining ones go popping away! Yeah, yeah…..I know I behave weird sometimes. :/ And why do I like it – well, there is no logical explanation for it. I love it because it is fun and it is as simple as that. 🙂 C’mon people, we need to let go sometimes and enjoy the simple things in life, right? Okay, even then if you want a reason here I give you two reasons – it a great stress-buster & in case you are angry and feeling like smashing someone’s faces you can take it out by popping a few bubbles.  😛

I am typing away this post as I sit in my office surrounded by files from all sides. What inspired me to write this post, is a bubble-wrapped package I received today with an online order. The package had arrived when I had just freed myself of a long assignment of 3 continuous hours. And it arrived at the perfect time. Rather than checking the earrings that were wrapped by it, I was more interested in popping the bubbles. And I tell you guys, it was a welcome break. The energy levels that had reached down, were back to the normal levels after a few minutes of popping. 🙂 And the memories (fighting with my sisters & friends for grabbing a piece and contest to see who can pop the maximum) and happiness it brought along was priceless! 🙂

Here is a glimpse of my stress-reliever & source of innocent happiness for the day –

FUN FACTS –

  • The makers of bubble wrap had set out to make it as wall-paper but instead it became packing material (and aren’t you glad it did? 😛 )
  • Bubble Wrap Appreciation Day is celebrated on the last Monday of January. The last Monday of January was designated as Bubble Wrap Appreciation Day after a radio station in Bloomington, Indiana received a shipment of microphones wrapped in bubble wrap, which, after being unwrapped and installed, inadvertently broadcast the sound of their wrappings being popped. 1. Popping bubble wrap is a great way to relax – it is so much fun. I don’t think I know anyone who hasn’t at some time engaged in this “sport.” 😀
